Electrodes are core parts of the battery, and are generally composed by active materials and electric conductor. The active materials refer to the substances which could deliver electrical energy through chemical changes; the electric conductor is used to conduct electrons as well as supporting (the structure of) the active materials.

The electrodes include positive electrode and negative electrode, which are respectively marked with “+” sign and “-” sign on the battery.
