Heavy metals such as mercury in dry batteries, cadmium in MH/Ni batteries, and lead in lead-acid batteries are toxic, in other words, all the said batteries contain toxic substances in them. During the manufacturing process or after disposal, these batteries would cause pollution and bring about health-risk to human beings.
According to the Strategy of Sustainable Development, non-pollution batteries should be developed to replace the conventional ones: develop green battery products as no-mercury dry battery and rechargeable batteries such as MH/Ni battery and lithium-ion battery.
